Holiday Gift Guide for Her- Beauty, Style, Travel, Home, Fitness and Tech

(1)
Makeup brush gift sets are probably one of the hardest things to find but they make one of the BEST holiday gifts. Usually a good makeup brush kit comes in a set of 5-10 but with two to three face brushes and the rest all eye brushes. I always find the face brushes the most useful like foundation, bronzer, blush, and contour but I can never find all those brushes in ONE kit.

So after searching and searching for a decent makeup brush set I came across: The Ecotools Forever Favorite Collection ($49.99)- 12 brush piece set included with two beauty blenders, the BH Cosmetics Rose Romance– 12 piece brush set ($16.79) [currently 30% off], and if you wanna splurge a little the Jaclyn Hill’s Favorite Brush Collection by Morphe comes with a set of 23 brushes ($155 on sale). Not only do these kits contain a variety of eye makeup brushes but they also come with a decent amount of face brushes.

After reading reviews on reviews of these brushes, I found these to be most raved about by many people. I’d definitely recommend to get your hands on them asap before they sell out because around the holidays makeup brush kits sell out like wildfire.

(4) You can never go wrong with perfume. What girl doesn’t love to smell good? A girl’s scent is a distinctive thing and people remember her for it. At Sephora you can purchase the Sephora Favorites- Perfume Sampler, which comes with 17 samples of some of Sephora’s top selling perfumes. It comes with a gift voucher on the inside that you bring in to Sephora and the person you gifted the set to can redeem a full size bottle with their chosen favorite scent at no extra cost. This set has a $119.00 value but only costs $65.00.

This bag will definitely put a smile on any girls face when she opens it this Christmas. It’s simple, elegant, and timeless. Get it now while it’s on sale!

(8) Hunter Boots or Hunter Boot socks are another great gift. Hunter Boot socks are usually hard to find around the holidays because they sell out like crazy but they are super cute and really dress up your boots. The socks pair perfectly with leggings and a big comfy knitted sweater. They’re currently on sale too!

4 Genius Ways to Make Extra Money Before the Holidays

So the other day I went to the mall to find a new pair of fall booties and as soon as I walked in I saw a huge lit up Christmas tree and what was playing in the background? Michael Bublé. It’s November but… WE GET IT, Christmas is coming. Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays but one word – stressful. Shopping for friends and family can get a little crazy. So the best thing to do right before the holidays is budget, save, and look out for sales.

BUT

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to make some extra cash right before the holidays?
What if I told you you could.

1. Get Paid for Walking
Sweatcoin is an app that literally pays you to be active. You earn “sweatcoins” for every step you take outdoors. In return, you can trade in your amount of sweatcoins for any offer available. The offers include things like goods, services, gift cards, or even a paypal voucher. I recently just saw a bunch of iPhone 8’s sell out.

Check out this app 👉 https://sweatco.in/i/lexigonz … It pays for walking

2. Trade in with Cardpool
Gift cards are probably one of the most convenient gifts to buy someone around the holidays. Most of which (in my case) dust away in the back of my wallet. Sometimes I even forget about them. Cardpool is an app/website where you can sell your unused gift cards for 92% cash back. You can also buy gift cards of your choice at a discounted rate. What’s so great about this app is that it’s safe, simple, convenient, and includes FREE SHIPPING. Cardpool provides you with a free shipping label to mail in your physical gift card and mails you a check within 1 business day. In some cases, you can sell your gift card instantly and electronically without having to mail it in.

Cardpool will take $5 off your first order!

3. Become a Tasker

TaskRabbit is an app/ website that allows you to make an extra income by doing simple everyday tasks. These tasks include: decorating, running errands, event planning, event staffing, personal assistant, cleaning, packing, shipping, moving, waiting in line, organizing, shopping, etc.

Use this link to get the $20 now:

. I Made $1,1015 on this App & I’m Not Kidding
Last but not least, Poshmark. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve used poshmark to buy and sell things. It has saved me so much money in the past and has allowed me to make a pretty good amount of side cash throughout college. Poshmark is an app that allows people to buy and sell clothes online. You make 80% of your sale & they provide you with a shipping label. You’ll be surprised how much you can make decluttering your closet. I’ve even sold some things for friends! It’s easy and super effective.

That comes out to $1,015.00

Friday Favorites- Finishing Touch Flawless

Hey guys,

So today I’m going to be introducing you to one of my favorite beauty products out on the market right now. It’s called, Finishing Touch Flawless.

What is Finishing Touch Flawless?
Finishing Touch Flawless is a facial hair remover that is gentle on all skin types. What I love about it is that it has a built in light which makes it easier to see even the finest hairs and it’s the size of a lipstick, which makes it so convenient and on the go.

For me, this product has my name written all over it because if you know me you know I’m always in a rush, on the go, and always carrying a tweezer in my makeup bag.

What makes Finishing Touch Flawless different among other hair removers on the market?
It has to be the 18k gold plate that prevents cuts and guarantees no razor burns! I’m also a huge sucker for packaging and this hair remover is a pearl white matched with a rose gold color. The best part about it is that it doesn’t even look like a hair remover.

The clean up? A BREEZE. The 18k gold plated compartment stores that unwanted hair. Simply twist the lid and empty it out.

What I love about this product is that it’s versatile. If it’s meant to be used on your face which is a more sensitive skin area, than you can use it anywhere on your body. DID I MENTION IT’S ON THE GO? well… ya. Girls with dark features like me (or even girls with annoying peach fuzz) will thank me!

 The built in light.
The 18k Gold Plate

If you zoom in you’ll notice the hair on the chin area. This is a before picture, using the Finishing Touch Flawless facial hair remover.

This product is generated in circular motions and what it does is remove your hair effortlessly. It contains a little storage compartment that stores the hair. When it fills up you can empty it out, so it also does not make a mess which is pretty great.

Here is a picture of the after effect, completely hair free!

Your hair does not grow back thicker, darker, or courser. Those effects are generally caused by hormone imbalances so don’t worry you won’t grow a beard! It also takes 3-4 weeks to grow back and allows you to apply your foundation or concealer so much smooth. My model has sensitive skin and since we’ve applied it on her skin she has not had any side effects.

With Finishing Touch Flawless, you will never have to be embarrassed about unwanted facial hair ever again. Say goodbye to redness and irritation and say hello to clear skin.

Finishing Touch Flawless

Thank you Idea Village for allowing me to review your product!

Hope you guys like it!

DIY: How to Tone Your Hair

Why is being a blonde so high maintenance? The first time you get your hair done you look like BEYONCE but a few weeks later your hair is yellow. I’ve been blonde for seven years and my hair has gone through every color from orange to banana yellow… ya I said banana yellow. (Spring break 2016, stalk me on fb.) I’ve tried Shimmer Lights purple shampoo before in the past and I’d use it once or twice a week but I never saw a difference in my hair. It was still yellow and going to get my hair toned every few weeks was becoming an expense. If you know hair, you know that toner only lasts a few weeks but if you wash your hair every day like me it lasts like two days. Okay, DRAAAAMATIC but you know what I mean. I’m so glad I found this method to tone my hair because it’s made my life so much easier, especially for you college girls that go out like every day and don’t ever have the time to get your hair done. This is your hair care holy grail. Let me know if any of you guys try this!

Some of the things you need:
1. White conditioner
This is the one I used-
OGX Conditioner, Nourishing Coconut Milk, 13oz
2. Manic Panic purple hair dye
Manic Panic Purple Haze
3. A container
4. Something to mix it with. (plastic spoon)
5. Latex gloves (it stains)
6. An old shirt you don’t care about
7. A comb

These are the two products I used.

I poured the conditioner into the container and added half a spoon full of the purple manic panic hair dye. The white conditioner is used to dilute the purple hair dye so it’s suppose to come out to a light purple color after you mix it.

Okay I definitely added a little more then half a spoonful so I added more conditioner on top until it turned light.

This stuff stains so be careful. If you look closely at my shirt you could see the stain by the back of my neck. It also turns your hands and nails purple so please make sure to use a latex glove. I left this stuff in for about 15 minutes. Sometimes I’ll do 20 minutes at most. It’s really up to you how long you want to keep it in, but be careful because if you leave it in for too long it will turn your hair purple. I’ve had it happen to me a couple times and believe me I’ve gone out with purple hair before… Oops. Don’t worry though because it does wash off if you SCRUB IT.

So this is what my hair looked like BEFORE.

& here’s the AFTER. Bye bye brassy and HELLO BARBIE

After 15 minutes, I showered and rewashed my hair with sulfate- free shampoo and conditioner.

If you guys have any questions feel free to email/ comment!

Again, let me know if you’ve tried this and tag me if you post a picture on any social media!

xoxo,

Lexi Allyson

*Disclaimer: I am in no means a hair professional! I use this method because it works for me. I’m sure toner in general isn’t very good for your hair. Going blonde is really damaging towards your hair but the main product I use, the manic panic hair dye, is based on natural vegan dyes and does not contain any harmful chemicals. That’s why I really like it.*

A Real New Yorker

I’ve lived in Queens since I could remember but I was born on the Upper East Side and raised in Manhattan for a majority of my life. I have called the city my home for almost 19 years now.  Living in the city and going away for college taught me how valuable becoming a New Yorker has made me.

One of the perks of growing up in NYC is that you are exposed to so many different types of cultures and people. In fact, being lucky enough to be exposed to so much cultural diversity taught me how blessed I was to grow up in such a big city. As a Latina, I’ve definitely experienced some racial slurs/stereotypes but I’ve realized that the type of people that targeted people like me were people that didn’t come from big cities or areas of diversity. (and no not all hispanic people are considered Mexican) This is probably the most common stereotype hispanic people get and there’s definitely nothing wrong with it. Desi Perkins is a thousand percent one of my idols. She’s Mexican, absolutely  f l a w l e s s, and is exactly what I aspire to be (a girl boss) but it’s definitely one of the top 3 mistakes people make about Latinas.

I had this conversation with one of my best friends last week and she opened up my eyes to such a new understanding of why people make this mistake even though both of us grew up in the city and have such similar views on life. This inspired me to write this blog post about New Yorkers, so here ya go!

Shout out to Izabela, my little world traveler. Sending so many hugs and kisses your way if you’re reading this.

Living Your Best Life in Your 20s

Your 20s are probably one of the most important decades in your entire life. It’s where you have room to make mistakes, find yourself, and grow. So why are your 20s so important?

“Doing You”

This is the most important thing I’ve ever done for myself and I’m still on that road of self discovery. At 23,  I finally began to understand what “doing you” meant. After graduating college you have so much time to reflect and be on your own. I was never comfortable with being alone which is why I dated from 19-22 but for the first time I was learning how to do that. I would definitely say my last relationship was a blessing in disguise. I’m finally learning how to be happy on my own and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

You Learn Who Your Real Friends Are

Hmmmmm, adulting 101. You begin to register how healthy friendships are just as important as healthy relationships. Suddenly you realize how significant the friendships with the people that continue to make the effort in your life are, eventually becoming less concerned with the others.

You Begin To Go On Real Dates

Uhm yeah, I chugged half a bottle of rosé before going on my first real date. (but dont worry after a few dates they’re not so bad) The dating pool goes from 0-100 real quick. Suddenly you have more options then you can count but you learn not to settle. Your 20s are where you learn what you want and don’t want. And for the guys reading this a little courting goes a long way.

Say Yes BUT Sometimes Learn To Say No

Life is all about new experiences. Saying yes will introduce you to new adventures, experiences, and opportunities that will benefit your life. With that being said, learning how to say no can be hard (still working on it) but sometimes it’s okay to stay in with a face mask, a bottle of wine, and have a night where you can just catch up on reruns of the bachelor. You time is important.

Living Your Best Life

Live your life to the fullest. Rachel Lindsay couldn’t have said it better herself. Everything that happens in your life happens for a reason. Life is literally a roller coaster ride. You can either scream every time you hit a bump or you can throw your hands up in the air and enjoy it. I don’t regret any of the decisions I’ve made in the past four years. If I did I wouldn’t have become the person I am today. You live, you learn, and you grow.
– NO RAGRATS –

 It’s Okay to Mess Up

You’re in your 20s if you’re going to screw up now is the time to do it. This is the time where we’re not tied down to anything: no kids, no husband, no family to support. Take comfort in the fact that the time to make risky decisions is now. Wanna backpack Europe? do it. Wanna move across the state for a job completely opposite of what you studied? why not. You’re not suppose to have your sh*t figured out in your 20s & thats okay.

Choose to Be Happy Every Day

“Every Cloud has a Silver Lining”

I’ve always been an optimistic person. It’s probably one of the qualities I’m most well known for and that’s probably because I didn’t always live the best life growing up. You can’t always stress the things you have no control over but I chose happiness every single time. Life isn’t always sunshine and daisies but choose to find happiness in everything.  Only you are in control of your life.

For me, my 20s have just become a journey of self discovery, new life experiences, and lots of growing. I don’t have a plan but I’m excited for what my future will unfold.
